| How
to submit an announcement for the Campus Announcements web page
We encourage campus organizations and university departments to
submit announcements for the Campus Announcements web page. Please
follow these simple guidelines in submitting your request:
- All announcements must be written in PARAGRAPH FORMAT not to
exceed 150 words. Proofread all announcements before submitting.
Any announcements submitted in different formats or containing
grammatical or spelling errors will not be posted.
- Be sure to include a local or campus "for more information"
contact name and e-mail address or phone number.
- We can include a link in your announcement to more information
on your web site. However, we will not link to pdf files or stand-alone
documents.
- Please send your announcement at least ONE
WEEK prior to your event or activity. If your
submission arrives later than that, it may not be posted.
- Submissions may be edited, rejected or removed without prior
notice or approval. There is no guarantee that any submission
will be posted.
- Please submit your announcement in the body of an e-mail message
or as an MS Word attachment to an e-mail sent to TTUNEWS@TNTECH.EDU.
| Announcements will be made for
campus-wide activities and university-related information only.
Due to space and time limitations, please do not submit notices
of regular meetings or normal organization activities UNLESS
they involve a campus-wide event (such as a guest speaker at
a major venue to which everyone is invited). Organizations
are encouraged to communicate directly with their members about
regular group activities such as fund-raising events, meetings
and elections. Student organizations,
clubs and groups should NOT depend on a web announcement as
the only means of communication about their events and activities.
Announcements will be posted
for registered or official campus organizations only.
Facebook, social groups, activist or charitable organization
announcements will not be posted UNLESS the groups are also
registered campus organizations. |
Take advantage of the Campus Calendar, too:
It could become one of the most useful tools on the
TTU website — a comprehensive calendar system that allows
users to see everything scheduled on campus in one location, and
to tailor the information to their own interests or needs.
The calendar program, located at http://calendar.tntech.edu,
features 42 separate calendars. It allows anyone with web access
— both on campus and off — to submit an event. As a
safeguard, trained campus maintainers approve or deny all submissions
before posting.
Users can view selected calendars of interest or roll
them all into one comprehensive schedule. The selected calendars
can be viewed in daily, weekly or monthly formats. You can even
"subscribe" to the calendars and receive e-mails about
upcoming scheduled events.
As with any calendar or scheduling software, the program
is only as good as the people who use it. Everyone is urged to submit
events to the calendar as they are planned — even up to a
year in advance. If used properly, the calendar will also help avoid
scheduling conflicts and the overuse of e-mail announcements.
To access the calendar from the TTU homepage, click
on the "Calendars" link at the bottom of the page, from
the "Quicklinks" button, or go to calendar.tntech.edu.
There you will find instructions on how to use the calendar, submit
an event, and subscribe for e-mail notices.
